Located in York, Pennsylvania, Flinchbaugh Engineering Inc. is one of the largest and most reliable on-shore contract manufacturers. To support annual sales of nearly $70 million, we occupy three buildings, each with 35,000 to 45,000 sq. ft. of active manufacturing, nearly 100 CNC machine tools and 290 employees.
Strategic Cell Migration
Flinchbaugh’s unique version of a manufacturing line transfer, where an entire work cell — including
machinery, tooling and test equipment — are transferred from the client’s manufacturing facility to
Flinchbaugh’s campus. Strategic Cell Migration leverages lean manufacturing principles and six
sigma to create a cost-competitive outsourcing solution for manufacturers of complex quality
critical metal components.

Heavy equipment; heavy truck; oil field; wind energy; industrial bearings; agriculture; railroad; heat
exchangers; and more. Our top clients include Caterpillar, Meritor, Honeywell, AxleTech, SKF,
Volvo Truck and Alfa Laval.
Available Capacity
Our plants run 24/7, but not all channels and machines run at any given time. On average, one to
two shifts of available capacity exists across the board.
Volumes Processed
Flinchbaugh is not a job shop in that we don’t pursue “one-off” business. We look for steady repeat business that can employ cellular manufacturing techniques on an ongoing basis. For some parts, that is thousands of pieces per month; for other heavy, complex parts, it can be only a few dozen
to several hundred pieces.
Support Organizations In Place
We have extremely capable high-urgency maintenance, production control, engineering and purchasing
teams to support the customer. We have sufficient critical mass and have been selective in our talent acquisition to have brought on bright, energetic individuals, typically with Fortune 500 company experience.
Available Machines
Our manufacturing is organized into 16 channels, set up for single-piece workflow. We employ machine tools, including a variety of CNC machining centers and lathes. Our largest machines are Giddings and Lewis horizontal boring mills

We understand that quality is extremely important for mission-critical parts,
and we have developed quality systems that have been approved by
major customers like SKF, Volvo, Caterpillar, Alfa-Laval, Honeywell,
National Oilwell Varco, Meritor, Timken and Siemens.

Our ISO 9001:2008 registered quality system assures you of repeatability
and a dependable supply of parts that meet or exceed your requirements.
But no quality system runs itself; indeed, much of the system depends on
those who administer and execute it.

Total Productive Maintenance
We employ Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to improve and maintain our equipment at optimal levels.
Mandatory participation in annual TPM events drives employee involvement and commitment to minimizing
unscheduled downtime and ongoing capital requirements. In 2010, TPM was completed on 120 machines
resulting in less than 2% unscheduled downtime and reducing capital expenditures by 80%.
Our quality department regularly prepares PPAP documentation,
including Process Flow Plans, Process FMEAs, Dimensional
Results, Material Test Results, SPC, Control Plans and Part
Submission Warrants.
